Looking Ahead: Reflections from the LHP Strategic Planning Retreat
On July 7, the Legacy Health Partners (LHP) Board of Managers gathered for a strategic planning retreat to help shape the next chapter of our clinically integrated network. The evening represented an important milestone in the development of LHP's new strategic plan and built on the valuable perspectives shared by members through recent listening sessions and our network survey.
We were pleased to welcome Legacy's new president and CEO, Dr. Susan Huang, who introduced herself to the board and shared her commitment to community, collaboration, and high-quality care. Her remarks set the tone for an evening focused on partnership and the future.
Board members reviewed LHP's current strengths, discussed the challenges and opportunities facing healthcare, and heard insights from our strategic intelligence partners at Vizient on successful clinically integrated networks across the country. These perspectives reinforced that while many networks face similar pressures, there are meaningful opportunities to strengthen physician engagement, improve performance and deliver greater value together.
The retreat’s most valuable conversations centered on how LHP can better support the network and individual practices through actionable data, practical resources and stronger collaboration. Board members also explored how to create meaningful accountability around our shared goals of delivering coordinated, high-quality care while responsibly managing cost and utilization.
Perhaps most importantly, the retreat offered a chance to reconnect as a board, celebrate the progress LHP has made over the past decade, and envision what is possible in the years ahead. As board member Dr. Ann Marie Paulsen of The Portland Clinic shared afterward, "The strategy session was invigorating. It was exciting to collaborate with people who really care about improving healthcare and finding ways to strengthen our network."
That spirit of collaboration will continue to guide the development of LHP’s strategic plan in the months ahead. Thank you to everyone who has contributed ideas and feedback throughout this process. We look forward to sharing more details this fall as the plan and its priorities take shape.

Network Spotlight: Improving imaging access at Legacy Health
Legacy is actively enhancing the imaging ordering process to improve speed, clarity, and access for both providers and patients. Our focus is on making ordering more efficient, reducing unnecessary delays, and ensuring patients can be scheduled as quickly as possible across our imaging network.
What’s changing
- New technology partnerships:
- Humata Health – helping automate prior authorization workflows
- Notable Health – improving faxed order intake and patient communication
- Cleaner, more effective ordering system: Removed more than 6,000 non-specific ICD-10 codes to improve clarity and usability (effective May 18)
- Improved access across Legacy: Advancing toward scheduling patients at any Legacy imaging location

Legacy launches new inpatient laboratory information system on Aug. 1
On August 1, Legacy Health goes live with Epic Beaker, our new inpatient laboratory information system, replacing Cerner Lab and MediCopia. Because Beaker is built within Epic, lab data will live entirely inside the platform you already use every day.
This change applies to inpatient labs only — ambulatory workflows with LabCorp are unchanged.

Announcements, deadlines, and reminders
- Susan Huang, M.D., MBA, has joined Legacy Health as president and chief executive officer. Dr. Huang previously served as chief physician executive and chief executive of the Providence Clinical Network and held leadership roles with Providence Health Network and Palo Alto Foundation Medical Group. A board-certified dermatologist, she earned her undergraduate and medical degrees from Harvard and also holds an MBA.
- Legacy Employee Health Plan administration changes: Legacy has selected Aetna to manage the medical plan and Capital Rx to manage prescription drug benefits for Legacy employees and their families beginning Jan. 1, 2027. Additional details will be provided leading up to and during Open Enrollment, which begins on October 26.
- Have you and your staff been working on an improvement project?LHP is accepting applications for our annual LHP Quality Awards and we want to recognize your entire staff for your hard work and continue to share information and ideas across our network. Download the application form and submit it by October 30. LHP provides financial awards to the top three winners ($2000, $1500, $1000 respectively) to help support your efforts and recognize clinics by delivering team treats, awards, and sharing how you implemented improvements so other practices can try similar strategies. - For primary care: Be sure to review the Member Attribution report in Power BI for a list of the LHP patients attributed to you. If you believe a member is attributed to you in error, download the Reattribution Request Formfrom the LHP Team Site and include the patient’s correct PCP and email the form to LegacyHealthPartners@lhs.org before Sept. 30.
- Reminder: LHP has retired the formerly required Clinical Integration (CI) Education video. Providers are no longer required to complete an annual CI education video to qualify for their earned incentive and we have shifted to optional participation in the learning activities we offer.
