Apply today to Legacy’s Physician/APP Advisory Council
Your voice and experience can help shape the future of care at Legacy. We’re creating a new Physician/APP Advisory Council and inviting you to nominate yourself or a colleague for the opportunity to serve as an inaugural member.
Serving on the council offers a unique opportunity to bring your frontline clinical experience directly into conversations with the President and CEO of Legacy Health, Susan Huang, MD, and executive leadership, influence recommendations and help ensure physician and APP perspectives are represented in important strategic and operational decisions.
The council will provide a regular forum to share insights, raise issues affecting clinical work and recommend improvements. Topics may include clinical strategy, quality and safety, access, patient experience, workforce well-being and systemwide priorities.
Council composition and selection process
We are seeking approximately 12 to 20 highly engaged physicians and APPs who are in good standing on the medical staff, actively practicing within Legacy or as a Legacy Health Partner (LHP), committed to organizational improvement and able to participate actively in quarterly meetings and related work. The council’s collective experience will reflect different roles, specialties, care settings, geographies, practice models, and career stages.
Eligible candidates will be evaluated using a standardized rubric focused on leadership potential; strategic and systemwide thinking; engagement and contribution; communication and collaboration; and capacity to meet attendance and workgroup expectations. All applicants, whether selected or not, will be notified of the outcome by early December.
Council commitment and expectations
The council will meet quarterly starting in January with a social gathering in December. Members are expected to attend at least 75% of scheduled meetings annually, review materials, arrive prepared, participate in discussions and follow-up work, communicate appropriately with physician and APP colleagues, and maintain confidentiality. These positions are voluntary and are not compensated; LMG physicians may be able to use their citizenship hours when serving.
Nominations are due Nov. 13
Submit your nomination [nomination link] by Nov. 13. This includes a statement of interest of approximately 250 to 500 words; a current CV or professional profile summarizing relevant leadership experience, committee, improvement or strategic experience; a MEC, department chair or other leadership endorsement, if applicable; and acknowledgement of meeting, confidentiality and participation expectations.
Please send your questions to Melinda Muller, MD. Thank you for considering this opportunity to your clinical insights with system strategy and strengthen care across Legacy.
Coming soon: A faster way to access Epic remotely
Legacy is updating how providers securely access Epic and other applications when working outside the Legacy network.
Island, a secure enterprise browser, will replace Citrix as Legacy's primary remote-access method. Island is designed to provide faster, easier and more browser-like access to Epic from a personal computer or device. Microsoft Authenticator will replace Duo for most remote access through Island.
This changes how you access applications remotely, not the applications themselves.
The goal is to improve the remote-access experience, strengthen security, reduce operational complexity and address increasing Citrix-related costs.
What providers need to know now
- The change applies to Legacy-employed providers and independent medical staff members who access Legacy’s Epic or other Legacy applications remotely.
- Duo will continue into the foreseeable future for electronic prescribing of controlled substances.
- Providers will use Microsoft Authenticator to access Island and Duo when authorizing a controlled-substance prescription remotely.
- Legacy is evaluating longer-term electronic-prescribing options that may provide greater flexibility.
- We recognize that using Microsoft Authenticator to access Island and Duo for controlled-substance prescriptions adds steps to the remote workflow. We apologize for the inconvenience and are working to identify a long-term solution as quickly as possible.
- The deadline for the transition is Dec. 15. Legacy is taking a phased approach rather than transitioning everyone at once. A pilot is underway to allow testing, validation and issue resolution before broader deployment.
No action is needed now.
You will receive instructions when it is time for you to transition. Please plan to complete your transition to Island by the end of November, providing time to test access and address potential issues before the Dec.15 deadline.
Legacy is working closely with Epic, Island and Microsoft throughout the transition to support providers with this change.
Continue to discover and learn about Health Equity
Since its launch in 2021, Legacy's Health Equity Speaker Series (HESS) has helped build knowledge and skills that support compassionate, culturally responsive, and equitable care. Through expert-led presentations and practical learning, HESS advances Legacy's commitment to improving the experiences of our people, patients, and communities.
Recent sessions have explored racial trauma, menopause and women's health, equitable maternal care, LGBTQ+ inclusion, food security, veteran-inclusive care, digital equity, antisemitism in healthcare environments, and intersex health. Together, these discussions highlight how understanding diverse experiences can help us create safer, more inclusive environments for patients, families, and coworkers.
Whether you work in direct patient care, support services, administration, or operations, each of us plays a role in creating a welcoming and respectful experience for all.
Call to action: Explore a session that interests you (watch for HESS announcements and registration information on the Health Equity Speaker Series page) and identify one takeaway you can apply in your daily work to improve the experience of a patient, family member, or colleague. Many sessions offer CME, CE/CEU, and MOC credits for eligible participants.
Remember that these learning options also qualify for points toward the citizenship category in your clinical integration program incentive. If you claim CME, we’ll receive your completion automatically. Otherwise, you can email LegacyHealthPartners@lhs.org and let us know which topic(s) you viewed.
