Medical Services Building Project Update
A Look Inside
Project construction this spring and summer focused on the interior of the building. Recent activities include finishing the interior spaces and completing mechanical and electrical system installation for all clinical and public spaces on the main level.
Activities that are complete include drywall finishes and the ceiling support grid in the gastroenrology procedure suites, operating rooms, patient care rooms, outpatient lab, main entry, and public spaces. Interior painting and installation of casework and flooring are nearing completion. The start-up and testing of the mechanical systems began August 10. Space and construction planning has started for the medical offices on the second floor.
Activity is ramping up on the outside of the building with the arrival of exterior siding and window glazing materials. The exterior of the building will be finished by late August.
An enclosed corridor will link the medical services building with the main hospital and provide a protected environment to transport patients. The concrete foundation for the corridor has been poured. Framing steel for the connector structure arrived in June and was installed in July.
Trees, shrubs, grasses and landscape materials have been planted along the new roadway perimeter, in the bio swales that will catch rainwater and storm runoff and in the parking areas. Grasses are planted on the dirt berms that dot the landscape along with temporary irrigation to keep them going during the summer months. These mounds will be transformed to reflect the landscape theme inspired by the slopes and grass meadows of Mt. Hood.
