Washington State, Clark County Public Health is investigating multiple confirmed cases of measles. Measles can be serious and is very contagious; however, it is preventable by vaccination. Because most people have been vaccinated, the risk to the general public is low. Public Health is urging anyone who has been exposed or believe they have symptoms of measles, such as fever with a rash, accompanied by a cough, runny nose or conjunctivitis (pink eye), to call their health care provider before visiting the medical office or hospital, to avoid exposing others in waiting rooms and lobbies.
Clark County Public Health has established a call center for questions related to the investigation or exposure, 360-397-8021. The call center hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, including weekends.
Again, please do not go to an emergency room, urgent care, or other healthcare facility without first notifying them. Special precautions need to be taken upon arrival to avoid exposing others.
