About Me:

Dr. Bashar Alkinj believes that educating patients is a key part of delivering exceptional care. He takes the time to help people understand their disease and its progression so that they can make informed decisions about their health. Dr. Alkinj focuses on listening, observing, and putting individuals at ease when they are nervous or worried. Dr. Alkinj splits his practice, caring for critical care patients in the hospital and patients with pulmonary conditions in the clinic. He enjoys all aspects of his specialty, but has a specific interest in interstitial lung diseases, thromboembolic disease, and diagnosis of suspected lung cancer.

Training: Dr. Alkinj received his medical degree from Tishreen University in Latakia, Syria. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Damascus University, also in Syria. He then moved to Detroit, Michigan, where he completed a second internal medicine residency at Wayne State University Sinai-Grace Hospital, serving as a chief medical resident and as a faculty member after that. Dr. Alkinj went on to complete a critical care fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and a pulmonary fellowship at Bridgeport Hospital, part of the Yale New-Haven Health System in Connecticut.
