About Me:

Dr. Khanal sees patients with all forms of kidney issues. He has a particular interest in peritoneal dialysis, a home dialysis option that can be more convenient for patients. He is also interested in kidney stone prevention and performs metabolic evaluations to determine why stones are forming in the first place, and what diet and medication changes are necessary to keep them from coming back. Dr. Binaya Khanal focuses on treating each patient like his own family. His goal is to provide excellent, compassionate care and to give people the tools they need to prevent complications from kidney disease and slow its progression. He is a firm believer in prevention and educates patients on important lifestyle changes. He strives to help take away the worry and anxiety patients feel, assuring them that they have a partner who is there to help manage all the complexities of their disease.

Training: After earning a bachelor of medicine and surgery from B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Nepal, Dr. Khanal completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at the State University of New York (SUNY) Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York. He also completed a fellowship in nephrology at SUNY. He is board certified in nephrology and internal medicine. Before joining the clinic, Dr. Khanal was the medical director for two dialysis units. He was also chief of Essentia Health’s Nephrology Division in Fargo, North Dakota.
