Where I see patients
The Portland Clinic - Columbia
I am a northwest native. I grew up in Boise, Idaho where I started college, but my undergraduate education was completed at BYU in Provo, Utah. After a short detour for my medical education at Rosalind Franklin University in Chicago, I moved back to the northwest for my foot and ankle surgical training in Portland, Oregon. I have been at home here ever since. My fascination with human movement began in college, where I studied exercise physiology. Through my education and lifes experiences, I have developed a reverence for the human body and the amazing ways it moves, functions, adapts to its surroundings, and heals itself after injury. I feel that medical and surgical decisions should be based on scientific evidence. I find satisfaction in developing both surgical and non-surgical solutions to help the human body move more efficiently and comfortably. Whether it is a mild overuse injury, a complex deformity, or a traumatic fracture-dislocation, my goal is to restore normal, pain-free motion by tapping into the bodys ability to heal and adapt so that I can do as little to the body as needed. Sometimes this means simple stretching exercises, other times it means reconstructive surgery. My areas of interest include treatment of ankle arthritis and reconstructive surgery for treatment of any disorder of a misaligned foot or ankle. I am extensively trained in surgical repair of traumatic injuries to the foot and ankle, as well as chronic degenerative injuries to the cartilage of the ankle joint. I find balance in life by spending time with my wife and daughters. You may find me out for an early morning jog, or at the local pool where my kids love to swim, or enjoying music, theater, or food in downtown Portland with my wife.
