About Me:

Jeffrey Ekstrand M.D.,Ph.D. is a board certified child neurologist at Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel. His main clinical focus is epilepsy. Prior to joining Legacy in 2016, he was an academic child neurologist at Primary Children’s Hospital at the University of Utah where, in addition to treating children with epilepsy in his clinical practice, also had an active research program studying basic mechanisms of seizure activity and epilepsy in children. He completed his residency and fellowship training in pediatric neurology at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA); attended medical school in a combined M.D.,Ph.D. program at the University of Wisconsin at Madison; and obtained his undergraduate bachelors degrees in Biology and Psychology at Stanford University. He is a member of the Child Neurology Society and American Epilepsy Society. In his spare time, he enjoys biking, hiking, reading, and music.
