He is currently the only neurologist with interventional pain fellowship training in the Portland metro area. He completed his neurology residency and pain medicine fellowship training from Stanford University and moved to Portland to serve the local community. He is a leader in the field with over 30 peer-reviewed publications in pain medicine, neurology and neuroscience. He has undergone rigorous medical and scientific training through the Medical Scientist Training Program sponsored by the National Institute of Health, a highly selective program accounting for 1% of US-trained medical doctors. He is an active member of the American Academy of Neurology, American Academy of Pain Medicine, and North American Neuromodulation Society. In addition to English, he speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese
