Glaucoma

Glaucoma

Glaucoma is an optic nerve disease and is the second leading cause of blindness worldwide. It is called the ‘sneak thief of sight’ because it usually decreases one’s peripheral vision. This loss of vision is not noticed until the loss becomes more central. Glaucoma is treated through eye drops, laser and surgery.

Treating glaucoma at Legacy Devers Eye Institute

The glaucoma department at Legacy Devers Eye Institute strives to provide the highest quality eye care. This includes educating and empowering patients to help them understand glaucoma and cataracts; providing treatment that is evidenced-based, patient-centered and cost effective; and participating in innovative research sponsored by industry, private foundations and the National Institutes of Health.

Through these measures, Legacy Devers Eye Institute provides a unique environment to decrease the burden of visual impairment from glaucoma.
