Legacy Meridian Park Medical Center is pleased to announce the addition of its latest MRI technology, which will provide patients in need of imaging with faster and more comfortable exam experiences.
The hospital, located at 19300 S.W. 65th Ave., in Tualatin, added the new technology to its suite of imaging services in January and is now scheduling patients for appointments.
The new MRI technology is quieter and faster, which makes the experience better for patients. It is not uncommon for people to feel a sense of anxiety during an MRI while in the enclosed exam chamber with loud sounds emanating from the machine.
“This new MRI features a wider exam table and shorter chamber, which helps patients feel less enclosed. It also has new technology that shortens scan times by many minutes,” said Joe Yoder, President of Legacy Health’s Willamette Valley Region. “We want to ensure a patient’s exam experience is as positive and as stress-free as possible.”
The MRI’s magnet weighs 8,779 pounds. To maneuver it into the building, a TMS9000-2 truck-mounted crane was used. The crane – with a maximum carrying load of 100 tons, a 169-feet total boom length and a 360-degree operation – used 36,000 pounds of counterweight to move the magnet.
“Adding this technology to our hospital ensures patients in our care, whether it be for an hour or for an extended time, are getting the services they need close to home.”
In addition, patients can come to Meridian Park Medical Center for X-rays, mammograms, ultrasounds, computed tomography (CT) scans, nuclear medicine, DEXA scans, fluoroscopy, and other services.
Legacy Merdian Park has expanded its appointment times, with evening and weekend timeslots available. X-ray services are also always available on a walk-in basis.
Legacy Merdian Park is conveniently located a mile from Interstate 5 in Tualatin. The imaging department can be reached by calling 503-413-7800 and you can find more information online here.
In May of 2025, Legacy expanded its imaging services in Woodburn, with the same advanced MRI technology. Patients can often get same- or next-day appointments at the Woodburn Imaging Center. To learn more or contact the center, visit it online here.
