The clinic has availability for new patients of all ages and for individuals seeking obstetrics care.

Legacy Health’s Silverton Family Medicine clinic is pleased to welcome new doctors, Kristina Cordes and Sarah Waterman; both who are now accepting new patients. The clinic offers a full spectrum of health care, including general family medicine, prenatal and obstetric care.

Drs. Cordes and Waterman are board-certified family medicine physicians who recently relocated to the Silverton area with their families.

Dr. Cordes earned her medical degree at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Medicine and completed her residency in family medicine at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, Colorado. She completed additional postgraduate training with a fellowship in rural family medicine and obstetrics at Tacoma General Hospital in Tacoma, Wash.

Dr. Waterman earned her medical degree from Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska, and went on to complete her family medicine residency training at the Family Medicine Residency of Idaho, Magic Valley Rural Training Program, followed by a surgical obstetrics fellowship at Creighton University School of Medicine.

“I love family medicine because you get to focus on the whole person,” said Dr. Cordes. “It is a special privilege to take care of the whole family, from delivery into childhood and adulthood – taking care of kids, parents and grandparents allows you to become part of the community,” she said.

Dr. Waterman said coming to Silverton and working for Legacy was her “dream job.”

“I fell in love with the community, and we have two young children. This is an excellent place for them to grow and thrive,” Dr. Waterman said. “Having grown up in a smaller community myself, I know that access to healthcare can sometimes mean traveling further, which creates barriers to care. I am excited to take care of whole families here, get to know my patients on a deeper level, build trust and attempt to reduce those barriers.”

Silverton Family Medicine is focused on building long-term relationships between providers and patients. The clinic is here for people of all ages, including individuals seeking prenatal and delivery care. Providers at the clinic specialize in providing life-saving interventions during delivery, making childbirth safer for rural residents.

The clinic also focuses on preventative care, such as preconception counseling, managing chronic conditions during pregnancy and postpartum care, which helps prevent complications later, improving maternal and infant health outcomes.

“It is truly unique, having the opportunity to take care of children, their parents and grandparents. That kind of connection allows us to provide better, well-rounded care for the entire family,” Dr. Waterman said.
