Knee Replacement

Total Joint Surgery

Knee replacement

The knee is the largest joint in the body. Cartilage is the smooth surface covering the bones that come together at the knee. When the cartilage is damaged, the bones rub together, causing pain and loss of function.

In knee replacement, the surgeon replaces the damaged joint with a new, artificial joint. Another option for some patients is called partial knee resurfacing, in which the surgeon removes the damaged bone and resurfaces it with a metal implant.

Legacy features leading services for total knee replacement surgery. See the "total joint locations and providers" or go here to learn about our centers for joint replacement and find a doctor who is right for you.
